Art is Content - but is it Your Content?

Working on my #BetterAngels series for a show this Saturday. I am coming in with content that no one has seen in the same place. Yes. I said content. I paint with words. Sometimes I am painting out of something - like this series.

When I am at shows, a funny thing happens. While I am standing there with my thoughts and feelings, people come up and tell me they are theirs..and the story or circumstance where these words are their experience.

While it’s awesome to brand and storify, it is also key to understand what you put out there has its own life with others..and to listen.

Leave room in your art for its future owner to dance.
